Acroyoga trains us how to operate more effectively in our relationships as well as in teams.
First and foremost AcroYoga is a team-based activity that depends on efficient collaboration and communication between team members for its success.
Everyone has a role. Supporting the other members to be effective in their roles guarantees the success of the whole team.
In Acroyoga, meeting people without fear, trust, active listening and active encouragement are key players in how we support each other in the physical challenges.
Being able to see possibilities and mobilize the capabilities of the team to meet these possibilities creates opportunities for success and development.
This process can be understood in terms of 3 steps.
Example
1. Seeing Possibility > Accurately assessing that someone is ready to balance on someone’s feet
2. Mobilising Team Capabilities > Engaging the spotter’s around for physical support and the more experienced participants for technical coaching
3. Creates > Opportunity for the success and development of each individual as well as the whole team.
The acroyoga system also intrinsically trains its participants in conflict resolution.
More stable relationships and stronger teamwork are all shown to be the results of resolving indifference in constructive ways. Unresolved conflict in personal relationships and work place relations has a huge negative impact on everyone involved as well as on productivity.
In Acro, nonverbal communication, student coaching, and active listening operate as tools of prevention as well as treatment in the area of interpersonal and group conflict.
These skills refine our relationship dynamics and assist in resolving indifference creatively.
Conflict is used to improve and positively increase our rate of development together.
To conclude, the skills of communication and collaboration that are practiced in acroyoga better equip its participants to be successful in their work environment and personal relationships, increasing productivity as well as personal development.
